Top Ski Areas in New Mexico

New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment. The place has beautiful scenery and other recreational activities that have made it a popular tourist destination. One of the reasons why most of the tourists, as well as locals, head to New Mexico is because of the ample skiing opportunities it offers.

Alpine skiing is very popular in New Mexico contrary to what the state’s desert image would suggest. Most of the ski areas of the state are located in the north-central part of the state in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The best skiing areas are located at Taos, Santa Fe, Los Alamos in Jemez Mountains, and areas located near the Sandia Mountains and in Ruidoso. Nordic skiing is also very popular in the area. Many people head to Nordic skiing is near Cumbres Pass near Chama because of reliable snowfall. This kind of skiing is also widely done in Valles Caldera National Preserve in the Jemez Mountains Nordic Ski Center near Red River maintains, and Bandelier National Monument.
